Fake Music Media

About Fake Music Media (FMM)

FMM started in 2010 in Beijing China with a pretty simple concept: To create a way for artists to go beyond their own region and achieve success internationally. Whether it’s helping western artists get big in Asia, or helping Asian artists become successful in the west. Our concept is that we are an “Artist Services” company.

So what does Artist Services mean? Through our own staff and working with a wide range of friends and partners from all aspects of the music industry, we do a little bit of everything; touring logistics and booking, internet promotions, finding funding for projects, event promotions, showcases, connecting artists to good producers and collaborations for their album, video production, even helping artists secure record releases in new regions. Simply put, we are like your friendly A&R, booker & promotions agency all rolled into one region specific package. FMM wants to become a support team that helps the artist management and label, or the artists themselves go into unfamiliar territory and get native.

Our goal is to organize successful tours, create lasting publicity, and make a long term impact in new places for the people we work with. We are not any kind of traditional music media company. We strive to be what the artist needs.

About Fake Love Music (FLM)

Fake Love Music is about doing events around cultures and musicians that we L-O-V-E. Here’s a few Fake Love Music party concepts from 2010:

In spring 2010, we wanted to start a Disco party in Beijing because there was almost no one playing disco around town. Philipp’s friend Vincent Vega had started Mein Disko, a popular party in Paris, and after a trip to Paris, Philipp came back gushing about dancing on a glass jaguar (obviously the most important thing missing from dance floors all over the world) to the tunes of Italians do it Better, DFA, Gomma, Eskimo Recordings etc. We decided that instead of obsessively stalking our favorite artists on the Internet and dancing around in our underwear at home, if we wanted to dance to disco, we would have to do the party ourselves. So we did our first Dance Dangereux party with Holy Ghost at LAN Club Beijing, and later with Munk from Gomma and a host of other Gommalites at venues around Beijing and Shanghai. We saw people significantly more attractive than us at the parties, which is a good sign that the party went well. We’re already planning parties for 2011, so stay tuned. One day we hope to get our own Glass Jaguar to dance on.

Update:
As of July 2011 Dance Dangereux is now in its 6th edition having brought the following Djs Holy Ghost! (dfa), Munk (labelhead of gomma), Manuel Kim (gomma), Golden Bug (gomma/kitsune/gang bang), Mike Simonetti (label head of Italians Do It Better) Rodion (gomma/eskimo/bearfunk), Metro Tokyo (FMM)

MADE IN BERLIN

Everyone knows that there is a wealth of talented artists to be pillaged in Berlin, and pillage we did. In summer 2010 in collaboration with Create Berlin at the Shanghai World Expo, we brought some amazing artists from Berlin to China. In June we did the first Made In Berlin events with, Jeans Team, Pitchtuner, and Jahcoozi going on three simultaneous tours in two weeks of over 17 shows in seven cities around China. Surviving massive tour schedules, hangovers, drunken karaoke, video shoots, veganism, and founder Helen’s severed tendon from a stage fall, the tour was such a huge success that the FLM team prevailed to do it again in October with the Puppetmastaz. This time a slightly less hectic 5 city tour with one week in between in Yangshuo drinking tea and staring at water buffaloes. In 2011 we will bring more Berliners on the road to Asia. Some more tea drinking and water buffalo-staring guaranteed.

Update:
FMM brought Pitchtuner for their 3rd Asia Tour. The tour started with Music Matters in Singapore and went on to Taiwan, Macau, Hong Kong, and Greater China for a 3 week 11 show tour. Jeans Team will come back for another Asia Tour in September/October 2011.
